Since they work with thousands of merchants all with different compensation arrangements it's not like a regular affiliate network where you can see a merchant pays a flat 20% per sale or whatever. Plus some of their merchants pay for competed sales while others pay per click. So the revenue model is highly variable.
So similar to Google Adsense, they can't tell you exactly how much you will make, however they pay affiliates a very high revshare of whatever the company makes. They have to pay well to attract top publishers, so they are very generous in their payouts.
