Default Seniors Strike Adsense Gold

USAToday just ran a story about how even though the Internet may be a young person's medium, retired people and seniors close to retirement are working the web and making lots of money.
seniors internet marketing adsense

They profile several "Gray Googlers" and talk about how much money each of their sites is making.

I'm always happy to see and report on success stories, especially when they hit mainstream media. However I have a couple problems with this article. 1st it's all about Adsense, not one mention of affiliate programs and I'm certain all these people aren't making that much money just on Adsense, they are probably all affiliate markers!

Which leads me to the 2nd issue - it sounds like it was written in part by the big G and reads a bit like an advertorial. The 3rd issue I have with it, there is a bit too much of a "get rich quick in your underwear with no work" type of slant to it. To illustrate both points, the article is filled with snippets like "Jerry Alonzy's Natural Handyman website produces $120,000 a year in income from little ads that Google places on his Web pages." Makes it sound like magic. Google just puts the ads on your web pages and you rake in the dough. I like the positive spin, don't get me wrong, but the whole article is just a little too sugar coated for my taste.

Read Gray Googlers Strike Gold over at USAToday.
Let me know what you think.
