GoDaddy has quietly raised .com prices 12 percent. For a long time the regular price was $8.95. GoDaddy has raised that by $1.04 and the new price is now $9.99. There is also the 20 cent ICANN fee. Therefore the total registration price is now $10.19.

The wholesale price that all registrars has to pay was increased, so it is no surprise that GoDaddy increased their price. Other registrars also increased prices. However godaddy.com raised their price more than some would have expected. The wholesale price went up by 42 cents. GoDaddy added an additional 62 cents to that and raised their price by $1.04. But Go Daddy often has discount specials so it will often be possible to register a .com domain for less than the $9.99 base price.

I've been a GoDaddy customer for years and have always been very pleased with them. I am certainly not going to stop using them because of this price increase.
