Tell Me About Your Year
Goal setting is a great way to establish a road map for your life and it can be as short term or long term as you like.
But, sometimes goal setting, in and of itself, can seem like just another task that needs to get done. I haven't updated my goals for the longest time for that very reason.
Then, I became another year older. My birthday was pretty good and I was able to spend parts of the day thinking about how my life had changed over the course of the previous year and all the cool stuff I had done, accomplished, and enjoyed. Seriously, it was a load of fun and it was very relaxing, too.
Imagine translating that into goal-setting. Simply reminiscing about the great parts of your life, wouldn't that be ideal? So, that's what I did. I actually wrote, what later became an organized list, my upcoming year.
If you're looking for a way to shake things up a bit and revive your zest for achievement, grab a piece of paper, some quiet time, and start writing about what the next year of your life will be like as if it already happened.
Close your eyes and imagine for a moment that you are speaking with a friend or colleague. This person has not seen you in an entire year and they want the entire scoop. What has happened to you? What has happened to your business? Highlight the best, most amazing parts of your year, and then re-read it.
While you're re-reading it, you can begin to start picking out the actual items that you plan to accomplish within the next year (keep it general, but specific enough to know when you've accomplished it) and keep it somewhere where you will see it often.
To your success,
~ Teli
