Do 5 Star Forum Signatures count as a backlink?

Here is a neat question for you:

Do the links we put in this FORUM in our signature, count as BACKLINKS by G and Y?

If so, is that the same as all forums, like DP?

There are different settings and plugins on different forums that could let the owner turn on nofollow. But most of the forums I know of including this one don't have nofollow turned on. It's easy to find out. Just highlight your sig and view source and see if there is nofollow attached to the link.

I personally dont use signatures for backlinks so to speak. They are great for advertising services or for advertising a website in a forum related to your niche.

As an added update, when checking my links in Yahoo, I notice almost EVERY post I made here is credited in Yahoo as a link to my site, and that's ALOT of posts/links.

Also since I got SEOQUAKE toolbar or the SEO Firefox plug in, which does the same, the nofollow links are highlighted in red for me automatically on every site I am on, makes life a lot easier to not have to check each link!
