Default Introducing Minstrel - our New Forum Admin

In case some of you missed the news, Larwee (Larry) my forum administrator passed away unexpectedly a couple weeks ago. Here's the thread about his passing. Larry was a very special person and will be missed!

After a launching a search I found a great new administrator. You have maybe seen him post the past few days, but I wanted to make a formal announcement.

Introducing Minstrel our new Forum Administrator!

He and I both were mods at WebProWorld many moons ago. He owns and admins several forums and is a practicing Psychologist. So I think he'll bring a lot to the forum!

I'll invite him to this thread to tell you a little more about himself.

You guys be NICE to him OK?

Please give Minstrel a 5 Star Welcome!

Thanks for the intro, Linda.

A quick synopsis about me:

I actually was headed toward a career in computers before I discovered psychology (a long time ago) and found ways to combine those two interests over the years. I learned programming on a mainframe with card punches and card readers before graduating to programming for personal computers in several different languages, some of which no longer exist.

I launched my first web site in 1994 and over the years have learned a fair bit about SEO, web marketing, and advertising revenues. However, I know next to nothing about affilate marketing - I'm really a total newbie in that area - which is one of the things that appealed to me when I learned that Linda was looking for a new admin. This is, I hope, an opportunity to contribute what I've learned to this forum while venutring into areas where I'm still very uninformed. I hope this will turn out to be one of those mutual benefit arrangements.

Looking forward to learning my way around this forum and getting to know the members here.

Got an email notifying me of an update to a thread I had posted in so making a quick pop in and out.

hmmmm Linda I see where you've got yourself another real smarty one. Larwee was very much a smarty and I'm sure he very much approves of this new moderator, too.

minstrel
Very impressive what I read in your synopsis......ummm psychology..... very interesting. Hope you're not gonna attempt to analyze that little head of mine tho and how I think or I may be in big trouble. lol

Got a question for ya.... don't want ya divulging any secrets or anything, but clues please as to the name minstrel? As Linda will agree, mine is very easy to understand. I'm purple and a bear.

Are we to assume that you may from time to time serenade us?? or maybe tell us some stories?? I'm just teasing you.

Is very nice to meet ya
and ......I'm assuming you'll read this too Linda, so I'm sendin ya a big hug
Think you've made a very good choice, should be very interesting reading minstrel's thoughts and obviously he's got a lotta experience with forums.

A minstrel is/was a travelling folk musician who went from town to town singing songs that told stories. In the old days, this was one of the ways news about important events was spread.

For a time when I was an undergraduate in university, partly because at the time I lived some distance away from the university and didn't have a car, I'd go to parties and entertain people by playing guitar and singing (and telling jokes and generally acting the fool). People would encourage me by giving me free drinks and letting me crash on the couch or floor when I passed out.

So when I first started joining forums and had to think of a pseudonym, minstrel seemed appropriate.

So now I'm seeing another side of minstrel!
And here I thought you were so serious!

I've been pretty serious lately too.
Too serious!

I may have actually met you at some parties in a previous life.
That was YOU singing???

Anyway, welcome aboard and we sure are glad to have you with us!

If it sounded like a mix of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and early Jefferson Airplane, probably...
