Really have tried to come up with some idea....Tough especially on a Monday morning. lol only thing I can think of is that I think the whole reason behind forums are pretty much based on two ideas. Everybody likes to feel as tho they're part of something (the whole community idea) and least for me, I reaaaally crave learning stuff.
Another forum operated by one of your members has a sorta point system where points are given out to members (don't actually know what you accumulate with those points, tho. lol ) You might have some sorta idea where members can give points to their favorite posts or I guess even a continuing type point giving situation where members could kinda rate different posts as to the value of them and visitors would be able to know right where to go to read the most valuable posts. If it were a situation where you received something for reaching a certain amount of points...maybe some type of reward. Not sure what type of prize, tho
This next idea probably would be kinda pricey but maybe you could have one of your members who's really good at this or even pay somebody like Wil Reynolds (am not objective lol I think this guy's really great for learning stuff) to maybe come here once every 3 or 4 months, maybe 6 months or maybe even just you yourself submit to him a question you might choose yourself from questions that have been submitted. Set up a special thread and allow your members to post questions and then periodically have somebody answer them who really knew what they were talking about. Might attract people really searching to learn answers to things. hmm thinking what I said...might not sound right. lol Not implying people here don't know what they're talkin about. lol I meant one of the so called biggies, like Wil Reynolds, Seth Godin, Andrew, you'd know better than me who's considered one of the biggies. lol
As to types of prizes...a lot of people seem to like to win passes to all the different type events that go on. Also, pretty pricey, tho. Even something maybe like you yourself even give out some sorta consultation or mention in your blog or something.
