I can see your point. But even your sub niches are highly competitive. Not sure which is best in the long run just playing devils advocate.

One or both won't have an affect on
PR and keyword content does not have an effect on
PR. The main thing that affects
PR is inbound links which are easier to get when you can focus all your efforts on one site. But then again
PR isn't that important.
