Several years ago I used an expensive registrar because there was no competition then, so there wasn't any choice. Things later changed and I went with lower priced registrars until I found the one that I liked and I have stuck with them.
Some registrars offer more features and services than others. But there are many low priced registrars who offer just as much or more than any of the ones charging those high prices.
There are still registrars charging $35.00 a year, while there are also quality registrars charging less than $9.00 a year. This means it is possible to register four domain names at the lower priced registrar for about the same price as one at the higher priced registrar.
There are registrars with prices in between the ones I've mentioned and they do have customers. Even those with the highest prices have plenty of customers. People deal with them for all types of reasons. Some think the higher price means they will get better service. Some people just don't know better. There are other reasons as well.
This could be an interesting topic that could provide some useful information to some people who might read it.
I use Go Daddy
http://www.godaddy.com and I have for several years. I register all of my domain names with them. I love their prices, features and service.
For a good while, GoDaddy would force people to go through all types of sales pitches during the purchase but a while back they changed it so it would be possible to skip all of that if you want to. This makes it a much more pleasant experience.
I've never had any problem with Go Daddy. I have confidence in them and I feel they will be around for a while. All of this is important to me and is why I stick with them.
What about you?
Do you use one of the more expensive registrars? If so, why do you?
