Let me be frank, I believe what Amazon has done is a low blow to its affiliates.
While I can understand their desire to cut costs however they can, they should have gone about it in a much different way.
1 -
Two day notice? This is like a slap in the face and side swiping your affiliates isn't a way to build trust.
2 -
Three and a half percent decrease in commission? Dropping highly targeted commissions, where people are more likely to buy, by nearly half is ludicrous. Building these targeted pages can take a lot of work on the affiliate's end, the least they can be is properly compensated for their efforts.
Hopefully Amazon will come to its senses and either extend the amount of time before this takes effect or increase the commission.
I'm sure the guy who said "don't fix it if it ain't broke" didn't mean "fix it until it
is broke and then break it some more."
I shop at Amazon quite frequently and I'm also an affiliates, however, they do not provide a significant portion of my income. I have no beef with Amazon to begin with, so this is pretty much an unbiased 2 cents
