Default Is Amazon Worth It?

I was wondering if anyone in here is an Amazon affiliate and if you are happy with them. I know that the commission percentage is pretty low - but all in all - is that the only negative part of Amazon?

They also have a very short cookie duration. Per session, I believe. But since they're the largest ecommerce retailer at the moment, most purchasers are willing to buy from them.

Yes, don't discount the branding factor for people purchasing online. I feel a little safer letting Amazon have my money than a company I've never heard of before.

Amazon has also increased their product line considerably in the past few years to software, other technology, and now even clothing via a sister store.

I have not used Amazon to sell products that we have on our store. I would loose money on shipping, and people are selling the same products for a tiny amount over cost. Same with eBay. I decided to focus more on my organic results. I have not tried to sell books & such from Amazon, though with the right website, I am sure you can, though you have to drive traffic & that is the tough part.

I believe the OP is talking about Amazon affiliate selling rather than selling other products through Amazon.

At the moment, I prefer Ebay's aff program over Amazon simply because I'm making money on it. Ebay pays a minimum of $28 for signing up a new active account. It can be more depending on the history of your referrals.

Nevertheless, relatives, friends, co-workers, talkshow hosts, etc. talk about buying common goods from Amazon. So Minstrel is right about branding. When Ebay or other online stores are mentioned, the topic is usually on a niche subject, like gold coins, vintage items, etc.

I've been doing aff marketing for two years. I still have to figure out a good Amazon strategy. But I know they close sales better than most ecommerce stores.

I don't like Amazon mainly because their banners aren't too attractive and their commissions are horrible. I'll never affiliate with them.

I don't have a problem with their banners... other than that many are Flash.

Their banners always seemed very blatant to me. Guess it's a matter of opinion.
