There are some things that I really don't like about Amazon. I probably have stayed with them mainly because I've been with them since they first started their affiliate program so many years ago, so I have a little loyalty for them. One big thing that I didn't like was the payment every three months. That was something I have been hoping they would change for years. Well, they
finally are making the change. Here is the way Amazon.com stated it:

Announcing Monthly Payments for 2007!
As we wrap up 2006 we have some great news for 2007! Beginning January 1, 2007, standard Amazon Associates payments will be monthly instead of quarterly, paid approximately 60 days after the end of each month. For example, referral fees earned in January will be paid at the end of March, and payment of referral fees earned in February will be paid at the end of April. As part of this change, referral fee tiers will be adjusted to reflect monthly instead of quarterly item quantities:

They are net 60 days. Maybe this will eventually become net 30 days. That is something to wish for. But the reason Amazon gives for the net 60 days is to allow time for returns.
Amazon doesn't want to pay by check to affiliates (associates) in the United States and they are making it more expensive to receive payment by check in order to make more people not to be interested in being paid by check. Here is the way Amazon said it:

Check Fee Increase
Effective January 1, 2007, we are increasing the check fee for US-based Associates from $8 to $15. The minimum check amount is still $100. We encourage all US-based Associates to choose EFT or Amazon.com Gift Certificates as their payment method to avoid this fee. The minimum amount for these payment types is $10.
