5 Star Affiliate Programs

I'm attempting to link to specific items at a merchant. The search function has me stumped. I go to Get Links/By Relationship/Merchant Name (in this case shoes.com) GetLink/Product to get the Product Search Results screen. Unfortunately none of the terms I use pull up anything I'm looking for. I've used both general and specific terms. What are these databases keyed off of? Does it depend on the merchant? I've had trouble with several.

Is there an easy way to go from web page on the merchants account that describes an item, to getting an affiliate link?

Welcome to 5 Star. I'm not sure because I've never done it, but hopefully one of our members will weigh in with an answer in the next couple days. CJs help system is pretty good at answering most questions, so there may be something there or in CJ University.

Every merchant is different. Some will let you direct link to pages, others wont.
The ones that do will have something like a "link target" field when you bring up one of the affiliate code windows (click one of the available text links or banners).
If it doesnt have this field then you cant do a direct link but its worth contacting the advertiser to ask them if its possible to do so.

longroad is right but is referring to changing a banner or text link destination to a certain page.

What I think esjaym is asking about is "product links" where the merchant has maybe 1000 direct links to different products but even though he knows the merchant sells ABC brand green widgets, when he searches for X brand or green widgets he can't get the product he needs to show up.

Although I don't know the exact answer a couple things come to mind. Some merchants just have horrible feeds that aren't well categorized but still I would think if you search for the exact product as it's listed on the merchant site it SHOULD come up. Possibly that merchant only has certain product categories uploaded to CJ and that product isn't in there.
