eBay is Shutting Down CJ Affiliate Program Closing - Change your Links!

Back in 06 when eBay announced the launch of their own affiliate linking infrastructure called Project Rover, Shawn Collins and others wondered if that move signaled the beginning of the end for the CJ eBay relationship. Shawn gave me a nudge today to let me know that eBay just announced they will indeed be closing their CJ affiliate program.

The eBay Partner Network officially launches on April 1st, 2008 and will run in parallel with the Commission Junction program for one month to give affiliates a chance to change out all their links. So you need complete your migration by May 1st, when the CJ program closes.

Oh no, that bites! When programs move, switching links is a pain, but when it's a program like eBay with so many links, yikes!

I wonder what's going to happen to ShoppingAds the ebay ad widget ShoeMoney started that used to be called AuctionAds? They were pulling from CJ too and serving TONS of CJ/eBay links to TONS of affiliates - at least in the beginning, not sure about now.

I haven't seen a thread on this so apologies if there is one.

Ebay is leaving CJ on April 1st and starting their own network, the "eBay Partner Network".

I'm somewhat happy about this as I can't rely on CJ to pay me. Hopefully the Ebay network will be more reliable!
