While I can't say this won't happen at some point in the near future or the distant future, I can say that this is a rumor. But not a strong rumor. It is a very weak rumor at best. Even calling it a weak rumor might be giving it more credit than it deserves.

I didn't pay any real attention to this one because it wasn't a quality rumor. I haven't seen one word about anything connected to people close to the situation. It helps a lot when there is inforamation coming from people who have knowledge of the situation. In these cases it is most often just a matter of some things being worked out and these rumors usually turn out to be true.

I have seen nothing about this from any reliable sources that have a history of getting things such as this correct.

All I've seen is one person who has written her thoughts about this. A few others have had things to say but they were also based on her thoughts. All she said was she had heard rumors and then went on to give lots of her own speculation as to why this might happen and she clearly did say that she had no inside information to support anything she was saying, it was just what she was thinking.

I have no way of predicting the future. But for right now I wouldn't call this a good rumor.

To put this into perspective, here are the comments that started this very weak rumor
Quote:
A friend of mine who works on Wall Street called me on Friday to ask about a rumor. He does this all the time, but this time the rumor was rather interesting. He said he heard Commission Junction is for sale. I had heard ValueClick is for sale recently from a few people, but not CJ as a solo act.

No idea if it’s true, but it is interesting and given that CJ is a key profit center for ValueClick, it does make one think.

I know it's a rumor, so take it for what it is.
Here is a link to that http://www.revenews.com/bethkirsch/archives/002337.html

Here is a link to a follow-up that contains more detailed speculation. The important word being "speculation." http://www.revenews.com/bethkirsch/archives/002366.html

I don't know if this can even be called a weak rumor. It is more speculation or a lot of guessing. That doesn't mean it will never happen. But right now this rumor, or whatever one wants to call it, isn't based on anything solid. It is on rather shaky ground at the moment. Only time will tell if this one can get more to support it than it has now, which looks to be close to nothing.

Beth is pretty well connected and certainly has her ears to the ground. It's possible she knows something, but it sounds more like speculation to me.

I don't really care or have strong feelings either way. Some SPECULATE that Google could buy CJ. Now THAT would bother me A LOT! But I doubt it would happen, unless Google is bound and determined to take over the world which sometimes does seem to be the case.

I don't know, Google seems to be buying a lot of stuff these days. But only time will tell if Google buys CJ.

I don't think they are desperate to change owners, they are already strong and in profit, not like the "tube guys" that sold off to google
