Hi Tony,

Welcome to 5 Star. Yes after you are approved for each program and add their links or banners to your site, you will see a variety of reports you can run that will tell you how many impressions, clicks and sales you get for each program.

With CJ you can't see your name on the page.

BUT CJ has something VERY important that CB does not.
CLICK tracking! So when you 1st put up the link, click it yourself
then go to be sure it tracked. There is sometimes a delay and the
click may not show up immediately. And if you click 4 times right in a row
it may only show one click.

Also you will see your PID (publisher ID) in the URL after
you click the link and get to the merchant site. CJ help will tell you how to find your PID and how to read the URL. One number is the merchant ID and one is the PID.

Additionally after you click your link you can check to be sure a cookie was set on your computer.

CJ has a really good help and training area that answers most of these questions too.

Linda,

Do you know if the click tracking you outlined above applies also to links generated from the API (rather than manually from the CJ site)?

Thx

Sorry no, I have not gotten into the API and don't know anything about it technically. I was at CJU a couple years ago when they announced it as a new service but haven't really looked into it since.

Thanks for the response Linda. I've been using the API for about 3 months - so still fairly new. I'm finding many people don't know it's there or what it does. I like it. It generates product suggestions based on search criteria across ALL of your merchant relationships. I find this helpful if you're in a particular niche and have, say, 20 different merchant relationships. Rather than putting up a banner for each one, you can have your web page automatically send search criteria to CJ's api and let them tell you the most relevant product to show to a customer.. They also pass back the aff link to present to the customer so you get credit for the sale..

At any rate, if anyone has experience with this and the tracking of the clicks, please chime in.

Cheers..
