Default Yahoo Spyware PPC Click Fraud Lawsuit

From the 5 Star Affiliate Blogs

Class Action Law Suit Against Yahoo for Click Fraud Using Spyware

When I learned about YSM running PPC ads through spyware and adware companies a few weeks ago I cut my ad spend there in 1/2. Should have really just cancelled the whole account on principle, but I'm greedy and still want the Yahoo search traffic. There were reports long ago that Overture was playing in the sandbox with Gator and this lawsuit alleges Yahoo is still in bed with the wrong people and even uses these bad relationships to bump up their revenue around earnings times.

Our friend Ben Edelman is on the case and helping once again to fight adware and clean up our industry.

Too many links to copy. Go read it then come back to discuss.

That's a shock! If I am not wrong...Yahoo! has a spyware which clicks on their Advertisers' ad so that Yahoo! can get money out of the click? If so, then that is the cheapest thing such a BIG company would do...I wonder what would happen to Yahoo! now...their reputation will certainly go down...

If I am wrong, then please delete this post...

Default fraud sometimes amounts to dumb luck

the title of this thread reminds me about an amusing incident at one of the IM companies i worked for (no names!). we collected revenue from Google ads, but one of our developers made the mistake of adding javascript code which enabled the user to click on not just the ad link, but any area in the cell that contained the link (supposedly making it easier to click on the ad). the inadvertent upshot of this was that if the user clicked directly on the URL link Google got 2 requests for the ad. i believe we ended up double billing to the tune of around six million dollars before Google finally caught on. boy, there were some red faces when that little fiasco was brought to light!
