Rob, I was aware of the anonymous setting but didn't mention it in that post. I have added it as well as a big problem with the system that I hinted about but didn't come out and say it. The system is subject to abuse.
When people are given the opportunity to do something there are always some people who will try to take advantage of it.
I can easily think of what some people would do if we had the User Reputation system. Yes, I know it is possible to do this and possible to do that to try to make the system work and only let reputation votes of members with a certain number of posts count. The sytem is still subject to abuse.
We have various ways of dealing with meaningless posts and members who make them. That is why you see much less of that here than you do in many other places including some that use the User Reputation system.
We already have some ways of giving recognition to members who make quality posts and we are always interested in additional ways of giving recognition for quality posts.
