Thumbs up RSS Affiliate Ads - FREE, Cool, NEW!

Text-Link-Ads, one of our 5 Star clients has been hinting at a new service and they just launched it - Feedvertising Text Link Ads for blog RSS feeds. Yes I know Pheedo and some others have been around for awhile, but you can use Feedvertising technology for FREE to run your own ads in your blog feed, which is an interesting application for affiliates.

You can place targeted text ads for your affiliate programs right in your blog RSS feed using the Feedvertising serice at no charge. Remember, if you have a popular blog, many readers never come to your site, but are just reading through their feed reader. So this is a great way to let your readers know about relevant products that may fit their needs. The system will rotate up to 6 ads for you. You can also use it advertise your other sites, place a reminder ad to encourage people to sign up for your newsletter or promote any other service you offer. Additionally you can become a TLA publisher and place ads that come from the Text-Link-Ads Marketplace to generate extra revenue. You can use the 6 ad spots in your feed for any combination of the ideas I've shared above.

Currently Feedvertising only supports WordPress 2.0+ but more blogging platforms are coming soon. I got excited and signed up right away. I want to use it to advertise my new site Affiliate Marketing Buzz, to promote the forum and to increase my newsletter list as well as promoting some new "datafeed to RSS software". However, I just realized my Wordpress is version 1.5 so not sure if it will work. I'm also interested in testing out Feedvertising from the advertiser side.

Darren over at ProBlogger was one of the beta testers and has some good information.

If you try out Feedvertising, please let us know what you think.

Default sure, if you want your RSS feed blacklisted

i don't like the sound of this. RSS has been increasing in popularity precisely because users have come to expect to be able to subscribe to highly focused content feeds. when you start putting third party advertising in there (which almost without a doubt will NOT be highly focused) you dilute the channel and send the signal to subscribers that they can expect increasing levels of spam. if there aren't already RSS feed blacklists on the web, this is just the kind of thing to get them started, i would say.

Well the part I said I liked is the part where affiliates could use it to put TARGETED affiliate product ads in their own feed. If you had a blog about gold tips and offered occasional coupons for clubs and balls I don't think most reader would mind too much and if some may even consider it a good service to keep them up-to-date on new products or good deals.

As with any type of advertising if the ads are not well targeted or if things start to look spammy it won't work.

slippery slope linda. while some affiliates might show restraint when introducing ads into RSS feeds, you just know 95 percent will not. on this i will bet my kitchen sink. and the stopper
