Default Google testing Viacom video ads

The testing has started with 150 AdSense publishers taking part in it. The test will last 4 weeks and will use channels of video content provided by MTV Networks. The testers must implement a JavaScript object that embeds a Flash player in their Web sites.

Publisher earnings are on a CPM basis based on the number of views of each ad inside the content. The ads will not be played unless the user clicks on it.

Google says they are doing this to help publishers and video content owners better monetize their properties.

The revenue is split between Google, the publisher and Viacom. Google didn't say what the percentage split was, not that people expected that they would.

Google requires the testers to place the ad above the fold. Each page may have only one ad. According to Google, the content will change every 3 to 7 days. Google has not said when this will become available to other publishers.
