Default Google TV Ads? Google and Dish Network Deal?

Online video is booming and Google's acquisition of YouTube in November of 2006 created an even bigger catalyst for the medium. Well the Internet isn't big enough for Google any more and they have been making numerous moves behind the scenes to edge into the even more lucrative world of Television. Google reportedly is making more than $10 billion from online ads and has established market dominance. The U.S. television advertising market is about $55 billion, so would give Google lots of room to grow even beyond the Web.

Google just started a test run serving up TV commercials to cable subscribers in Concord, Ca. They are expected to purchase TV spots in advance, and then resell that ad space to their existing online advertising clients. So far the Dish Network story below is only a rumor, but Google's subtle moves into the TV ad space is well documented. Will Dish be the network to get the deal?

There is rumored to be a contextual aspect to this new breed of TV advertising. Will we soon see a TV Network option in our Adwords account next to the Content Network?
VentureBeat » Rumor: Google about to sign ad deal with Dish Networks "The latest reports are significant because they suggest Google may be on its way to cracking the huge television market, to deliver a very different kind of ad to peoples’ living rooms. Dish is the nation’s leader in high definition and interactive TV programming. Google’s TV ads, like the ones Google distributes already to Internet sites, would be delivered more efficiently — targeted more closely to the content of the TV programming being watched, and more relevant to the people actually watching it — or at least, that is Google’s intent."

What do you think?
Will it happen.
Is it a good thing?
Will Google REALLY take over the world?
