Arrow Performics becomes Google Affiliate Network

Major announcement! DoubleClick Performics after being acquired by Google has evolved
into a new brand and is now the Google Affiliate Network.

One of the reasons I’m personally excited, is that the Google Affiliate Network is going
to be a Premiere Featured 5 Star Affiliate Program. Catch all the news at the 5 Star Affiliate Blog!

Would this mean Google becomes more flexible towards bridge landing pages - websites? - Because the gross of the affiliate websites are redirecting the visitor to the merchant.

Or what about hand editing out the competition in the SERP's?

What if Google just simply turns any link that would appear from a merchant in the SERP's for any given query that has a affiliate program into an affiliate link?

That would make them a LOT of more revenue and basically makes the contribution of any Google Affiliate Network (GAN) affiliate a blimp on the overall revenue chart.

I always thought Google was like Switzerland, not directly competing for SERP positions...now they have all the incentive you could think of to do just that.

Hmmm...

Will they allow digital products like software or e-books (similarly to ClickBank) or only physically deliverable ones, like those allowed by Commission Junction?

I'm not certain, sorry. I'm super tied up this week, but can try to find out for you next week. Or you can email them.

After they officially come on as a 5 Star program, I will have someone from Google available to answer questions here at their forum.

That would be great. After Google's acquisition of Performics, the latter has all chances for becoming the next big thing on the web, IMHO.

It will be very interesting time indeed.
