New to 5 Star? Please Read before Posting your Intro

The following tips will help you get a stronger start in our forum and will give you some guidelines about the introduce yourself forum.

1) READ THE FORUM RULES BEFORE POSTING - Please be sure to read our general forum rules before posting your intro. Most importantly note we don't allow any affiliate links, links to your own site or any type of self promotion in any of the main discussion forums. Also certain types of sites may not be listed in sigs or anywhere on the forum. See: Signature Restrictions in the rules in Red.

2) INTRODUCING YOURSELF GUIDELINES – We want to learn a little about YOU, the person – not your company. What lead you here? What’s your background? What do you hope to get out of the forum? What are your interests and that type of general personal info.

It’s fine to mention your "official company name" and position, because that is part of who you are and is probably a big part of the reason you are here. But self promotion is not allowed in any of our discussion forums. (Note: OFFICIAL company name only, no affiliate site names, URLS or links allowed.
Example: I work for Amazon (without the .com) is allowed. I own free-affiliate-tips.com is not.)

So if your personal intro turns into an ad for your company or your affiliate program it will be removed or edited. Also please note you may not link to your site or mention your URL in your post, but it can be in your signature. (See Signature Restrictions in the rules.)

Example:

Allowed: I work for XYZ Widgets and manage their affiliate program and I’m here to learn more and discuss affiliate marketing. (Then go on with more personal info about yourself).

Not Allowed: I work for XYZWidgets.com. We have the most amazing widgets under the sun and we have a great affiliate program that pays 100% and is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Check out my site.

FORUM INTRO ETIQUETTE - Think of joining this forum, like being invited to a potential new friends house for dinner. Do you whip out your card and give a pitch for your product as soon as they open the door??? No you make small talk, tell them a little about yourself and get to know them 1st.

3) DON’T ASK HOW-TO QUESTIONS IN YOUR INTRO POST
Many times new members will introduce themselves and then ask a how-to type question or ask the best way to get started question. Questions get lost in the intro forum as that’s not where discussions and Q&A happen.

You need to post your intro which is just about YOU and then separately post your question with a descriptive title in the appropriate forum in order to get answers. SO PLEASE use your 1st intro post to tell us about yourself and ask questions in a different thread so we can better help you.

Example: If you have specific questions like "how to get started" or "how to pick the best programs" or “how to build my 1st site" please post those question down in the NEWBIE forum, using a descriptive subject line.

Before posting questions though, please try to read most of the stickies in the newbie forum as many common questions are already answered there and you'll find valuable tips about what to do and not to do when starting in this business.
