Default Gator Microsoft Cartoon

From the Friday Funny Blog.

http://affiliate-blogs.5staraffiliat...-claria-gator/

I have been reading with interest news about the possible purchase of Claria (formerly Gator) by Microsoft. See my "Gator" cartoon below to see how I really feel about the subject. I applaud David Coursey, an Eweek writer for just plain laying it on the line, the way many of us see it! Some of his quotes below:
Quote:
"Opinion: By buying online marketer Claria, Microsoft would be rewarding people who steal advertising revenue from others' Web sites... I said this about Napster and will repeat it in regards to Claria: People who invest in socially irresponsible (or reprehensible) companies should not be rewarded. The people responsible for Gator created a business designed to steal advertising revenue from other people's Web sites... Eventually, the media got wise to Gator, and the company tried to hide its past by changing its name. You can change the name, but not the history."

Read the rest here: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1833649,00.asp

Then come back to discuss it.

Default scuttle, scuttle

Scuttle away I say.

There are too few watchdogs for too many of the shady dealings that go around in the web world. The news watching public is too old to know what we're talking about. All they want to hear is how many soldiers died today or that's all the news wants to report.

Then on the other hand the people who might understand, under 50 years old, are too busy working their brains out to stay on top of everything. Computers aren't sexy enough for someone in Hollywood to make noise about. So it'll be pushed to the side and stuff like this will go down without much notice.

That is unless we keep communities like this alive and buzzing to keep everyone in the know. Good work.

Yep agree with you both!

HEY!

Microsoft Gator errr Claria Deal Bites the Dust

Well rumor has it this deal has gone south. I REALLY think my Microsoft Gator Cartoon (above) was responsible for helping "Big Brother" see the light!

ClickZ reports: Microsoft/Claria Deal Dead "A Microsoft staffer, who asked not to be identified, characterized the end of the talks as driven by concerns about a PR fallout that could follow a Claria purchase. That company has, in the past, been associated with spyware."

ummmmmm, sorry people,,,,,,,,,i have no problem with the topic or the result

but i do have a problem with people "characterising",,,,,,,,you saying I am dumb or stupid because I am "over 50"?
AND, everyone under 50 is "with it"?

I think not

Sorry if this upsets anyone, but I am not the type to "put" people in classes because of age, race, religion or "anything". We are all individuals.

There are exceptions to everything. I did not mean to imply that everyone fit a particular mold. But let's not go overboard. If the majority of a particular demographic is a certain way then unfortunatly those are the ways in which they become characterized.

Anytime an individual speaks up they are doing more than 95% of the population would do.

So, no offense intended.
