SS #s and how to handle tax issues

Hello,

This is my first post here. I am with a company based out of Australia and starting a new in-house affiliate program.

What I would like to know, is whether we need to require Social Security numbers for US affiliates, (and other tax id #s for other countries), and whether to worry about any US tax issues, as we are not a US based company.

Any information anyone has would be most appreciated.
