How can I track my conversion rate?

Hi,
I am completely new to affiliate programs.
I wanted to know about the conversion tracking. I have started with Google AdWords but now I want to know how I can track the conversion rates. For, right now I don’t have a website to start with. If the destination and display URLs are from the advertiser’s page and I do get clicks on my ad copies, how can I track those clicks? As the website is not my own website. Google helps with the tracking scripts to be used on a website.
Sending Google tracking scripts now and then to advertiser does not seem to be a feasible option for me to track my results.

You would preferably want to use a landing page of your own to track incoming traffic from your Adwords campaigns.
And ask your affiliate manager if they can hook you up with a tracking pixel.

Some software available that you can use to track conversions:

KeywordXray
Keyword Radar
XtremeConversions

I can't vouch for these programs and i don't know how safe they are, that is if they use your data for their own benefit.

Here is an tutorial that explains how you can set this up on your own, it seems complicated though.

I blogged and posted here in the forum about Xray after talking to the owner and was wowed by it. HOWEVER a forum member had lots of problems that were never resolved so I'd be leary.
