Not good time for financial products?

I work for an affiliate who deals mostly with credit cards and other financial products... Given the fact that the economy is going down, the available credit has dried up and etc... We are looking into expanding into other areas... Big question - What areas?

I would like to know if there is some report about the Affiliate Industry outlook, 2008 tendencies and data that could help us make an educated decision?
