Well could depend somewhat on what type of product or what type of traffic you need. I've gotten some great ad buys at http://performancing.com/partners new blog ad network and www.adbrite.com.

Eh2zed,

Have you tried article marketing as a medium to drive free traffic to your websites? This method used to consistently earn me over$1000/mo (but was a lot of work)..

Don't just go writing articles though, just to get backlinks. There really is a secret to article marketing. The right way to do this is to leverage the power of big article directories to get top listings on Google for terms that are getting a considerable amount of search volume each month (1000 or more)..

You can do this by doing a little bit of keyword research and targetting kw phrases the have less than 5000 optimized results.

So, say you wanted to join an affiliate program to earn a commission for every person you drove to a tie-die t-shirt merchant.

You would want to find a phrase that is relevant to tie-die t-shirts that has less than 5,000 optimized results in Google. Optimized results are simply the results you get back when you do a search with quotes in google.

Then all you have to do is optimize your article with that kw phrase, and submit it to a powerful article directory... Your article will get spidered and listed on Google first page for the kw phrase if done correctly, for months, often times up to a year or more.

This method takes a little bit of research but it definitely pays off!

gl,
Bryan

Default CHeap advertising

There's never a worse mistake than to cut corners when it comes to advertising. It's like buying an airplane ticket to another country but only paying for 3/4ths of the way. You've spent money, but you're still not there yet.

Having said that..... in a perfect world we'd all have TONS of cash to spend on advertising, but then if we had TONS of cash to spend, we wouldn't worry about advertising right? hehe

The point is , don't try to go bargain hunting with your marketing and advertising efforts. Try to get as much money together as you can. This may take a while so in the mean time you can do other things that will cost you little to no money.

1. Article writing - free articles on the subject of your website or business and then adding your website link and information about you and your business in the author resource box. Post your articles to the thousands of free article sites

2. Posting on forums like this that have to do with the topic of your business
3. Press release ...at PRWEB.com you can post a free press release

4. Blogging - you can set up a free blog at blogger.com

hope this helps!
Best!

Default Cheap Advertising

Well...I don't think "cheap" is the word that you want to sum up the traffic, but there are plenty of inexpensive methods to getting high quality traffic.

The content suggestions above are good, but you have to want to develop content. You can always find a targeted newsletter and buy advertising. Link buys on other high traffic sites work as well. Myspace is a huge network, and if you have a relevant product/service you can recruit people with a huge friend list to promote for you.

As for SEM. You can definitely buy high volume $0.01 traffic, but it will most likely come from content matches and therefore you can expect the actual conversion to be quite a bit lower.

You should always build out your site for search engines and adding great content helps, even if it isn't immediate you're going to be happy 6 month - 1 year later when it starts bringing in organic traffic.

Of course there are always affiliates...but that doesn't fall in the cheap category when you look at the overhead of running a successful campaign...hmmm, maybe changing your focus to "what works best" and finding out how to maintain that is a better idea
