genuwine4532, I don't know how clear this will be but I will try to make it clear.
The gravity of a product is always changing. The gravity goes up when more unique affiliates have made money by selling it. Older sales are not worth nearly as much as newer sales in the gravity calculation. No sales older than eight weeks are used in the determination of gravity.
If a product is high in popularity but has a low gravity, then there are not many affiliates responsible for the sales. It could be one, or a very few super affiliates are doing almost all of the selling.
I think gravity ( as related to Clickbank) is one of those things that can confuse people and that sometimes people pay too much attention to it.
I personally prefer physical products over what Clickbanks offers. But if one is trying to select something from Clickbank to sell, rather than giving a lot of attention to gravity a person probably should go for something on the first 2 or 3 pages of the listings that has a high referral percentage and low refund rate.
Don't fall into the trap of looking solely at gravity to rate a product though. I personally look for low gravity as it shows that my competition for the given product will be relatively small, and this allows me to dominate smaller niches rather than trying to sell the 200+ gravity items. Automated figures are useful tools but always do additional research.
I totally understand that, in fact, I think CB info is really so limited and they do not have nearly enough to go on without doing further research about their products.
