Clickbank is just one of many affiliate networks which allows you to sell digital products such as ebooks online for a commission. Since you have already signed up you probably have already noticed the type of products that clickbank has to offer. Many people join up with clickbank because they have high commissions although some of the products can be a little difficult to sell. If you want to succeed with clickbank, you have to discover ways to promote the product you acquired from clickbank. You wanna drive traffic to the affiliate link that you can obtain with each product. There are several ways to do this.

-You can create a blog
-create a website
-Drive traffic via ppc through Google adwords, Msn Adcenter, or Yahoo Search Marketing.
-Article marketing
-Email Marketing

This list goes on… but these are the highly popular ways that people affiliate market. But first you wanna determine what types of products you want to promote. You generally want to start with something you have a passion for or interested in. People that write about something they are passionate about generally have high conversions because of authenticity and make lots of sales. So your first step is to find out what industry you want to promote in. Once you have found that you will know what products you want to promote based on the industry you selected. When I say industry, I mean where do you want to market. Who do you want to market to? If you ask yourself these questions, you will be on your way to finding out where to market. When you know where you wanna market, then you can determine if the clickbank products are worth promoting. Remember there are several affiliate networks. So please don’t get stuck on clickbank. I think Linda the administrator of this here great forum has a list of affiliate networks. Once you discover where you wanna promote, you may come to find out that clickbank may not be a beneficial place to start or then again it may be. The ways to market that I listed above have several different steps that you would use to promote effectively. This was a loaded indepth question. However, I hope I got you started as to where to look.

Thanks Marcus, great answer!

Hi hardip2057, Clickbank is typically not a great place to start when you are brand new IMHO, because it's very competitive. It may be right for you, depending on what type of product you want to promote though.

Very 1st step is to find your niche, then products that people in that niche would be interested in. If you end up wanting to promote real products like jogging strollers or fishing tackle, CB is not the right place. They only have ebooks and software.

So before you do anything, read all the stickies in the newbie forum and then the niche marketing forum. Find a good niche and THEN join the network that would have the right types of products for that niche. Otherwise you are shopping for a roof before you've even decided what type of house you want to build.

good advice ...

as a 4 month old clickbanker, i would definitely emphasise what marcus says - focus on niches you are passionate about and can write about easily. one of the common clickbank promotion methods is writing articles ... it's hard to write very many articles about something that you have little or no interest in

I really couldn't agree more either, I had tried multiple different products on Clickbank and had little to no success. Granted I didn't put in the 100% effort that I should had/could had but was having a very hard time getting sales and dealt with low conversions. I began to get burned out after working on a product I had NO reason to be promoting as it didn't fit with my lifestyle.
