Yikes, I just have to jump in a comment because this is one of my pet peeves.

What in the WORLD makes you think these are ethical leads that you should be paid for??? These aren't REAL customers interested in buying products - these are people you are paying to complete offers. They are all BOGUS!
Think in the reverse! Lets say you are an insurance agent and you only get paid when people actually buy insurance. You start an affiliate program to get leads from REAL people interested in buying insurance. You know that one out of 10 leads normally buy. Some YAHOO like you starts sending bogus leads from people just trying to make a dime that have no interest in buying. They send you 300 bogus leads and 0 convert and then expect to be paid. Wouldn't you be LIVID that that guy thought he deserved a commish for sending you FRAUDULENT LEADS. Yes fraudulent, that's what it is in my book!!!

Very well said Linda and a must read for any affiliate thinking of ways to game the industry. I just read an eye-opening article in an older issue of Revenue Magazine concerning ring-tones and the misleading ways in which some affiliates go about their business. I'm just grateful that there are more honest affiliates than not. My one issue with what you said was, and I quote.."Some YAHOO like you ..." I met up with two representatives from their Network back in January at the Affiliate Conference in Las Vegas. They gave me their business cards, I have tried to contact them ever since that last time we met, regarding to payment and doing business. But still to this day, unable to reach them.
