Exclamation Help Review My Blog Please

I've just set up a blog for and anime affiliate program.

I'm not sure if I'm putting the affiliate links and banners at the right place of the blog's layout.

Can anyone comment on that? I'm open. Here's the link to my blog:

Anime Eki

Thanks.

Nice enough looking blog, though it should be on your own hosting, however I think the bigger issue is your choice of product.

People don't buy anime online. They get it for free. That's why it's possible to buy anime traffic off google adwords content network at 1 cent per visitor. They just don't convert.

If you can figure out a way to convert anime traffic you will make a lot of money.

Unhappy

Thanks for the comments, Rob.

After reading your reply, I felt so slumped and like I never moved from square one. Before this I was promoting sports betting systems, which was something I blank about and didn't work out. I chose this product because art, drawing and animation seems to be the only thing I'm familiar with but I just couldn't find a suitable product and on top of that, I'm a newbie.

At first I had the same view as yours about anime affiliating. But after asking some questions and making things straight here:Help Making my First Conversion
I thought anime affiliating was gonna work after all. But after what you said, I just don't know if I'm doing things right. I don't do adsense and neither do I do adwords. So I'm just lost once again.

Thanks

Ahh crap, I didn't mean to knock the stuffing out of your efforts.

The thing is you have a good writing style and you got the blog to look pretty good too, so there are plenty of positives. And you're learning.

Which affiliate programs are you currently signed up to?

You are an artist? What software are you familiar with? What products?

Actually I'm an animator. I made 3 flash movies last year and earned about a thousand two hundred bucks but I kinda fell ill due to lack of sleep. It's tough to animate to earn money especially when I'm still at college. So I though affiliate marketing might help but it is just difficult because I'm familiar with business and marketing.

Well, I'm currently signed up with the Anime Nation affiliate program. I've been posting frequently to keep my blog up-to-date hoping to drive more traffic to it. I really don't know if the affiliate banners and catalog search tools need to be strategically placed in my blog's layout or if it's just fine to display them conspicuously.

I've just set up a blog for and anime affiliate program.

Don't know anything about anime, but Rob is probably right, HOWEVER...
it is nice looking and if you are starting to get some traffic and this is your passion, maybe don't drop it, but if you decide to start something that would be better, keep this going as more of a hobby site and maybe eventually you can make some money.

If you decide to continue with this blog here are a couple tips.
If you decide on another niche, keep these tips in mind for that one.

"I'm not sure if I'm putting the affiliate links and banners at the right place of the blog's layout."

Having the banner in the top left sidebar is good placement.
HOWEVER, keep in mind TEXT LINKS convert much better than banners and
if they are woven into the copy convert even higher.

Example: sentence from your blog
So far, Ive only watched the first episode of the new season of Bleach.
(If it's available at your affiliate program, you should add a link where I underlined.)

Couple Big Problems: Your post from June 10 about Anime Nation.

#1 The image - should be linked to Anime Nation. It's not.

#2 This post is an AD - which is fine. You've written it well and done sort of a mini review. GREAT! BUT there is not a single affiliate link. NOt even a direct link. So if someone thought "hey that sounds interesting, I want to go check it out" you give them NO WAY to do that. The only way they could even get to that site is to Google it so you would not make a dime. You need to add the affiliate link to the image but also at least twice in the text. The underlines below is where I would add links.

Quote:
Anime and manga freaks are now able to find more reason to stop by. Anime Nation is now at Anime Eki!

Just to spice things up here, I've decided to provide purchasing services so that those die-hard anime merchandise collectors can get their favorite merchandise here while they visit Anime Eki.

The merchandise include anime DVDs, manga, keychains, plush dolls, cosplay accessories, bagpacks and even YesJapan for those who want to learn Japanese.
If they give you separate affiliate links that link direct to the indi products above, then link each product separately to that category on their site.

BIG SEO PROBLEM

Throughout your blog you have a problem with the way it's set up.

When you click the title of a post it should take you to a separate page on your blog that ONLY has that post. If it did, your keywords for each indiv post would be at the top of your browser (that’s the meta title, the most important thing for search engines) your keywords would be in the text title of the and in the text within the article on that page. All these things give you a better chance with the search engines.

EXAMPLE: Look at your post on Friday, June 13, 2008 "Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2?" I don't know anything about it, but if it's a hot new unreleased product that people are interested, maybe not that many are blogging it yet. You could have a good chance of getting search traffic IF IF IF, people could find it.

Click the link. It goes to an empty page. See the keywords on top of browser above your address bar? If your post was there as it should be you'd have all the elements in red above. As it is since your posts don't show up on their own pages, that article (just for one example) is only on your homepage - lost in with a bunch of other keywords with the wrong meta title.

(If you aren't sure what I mean in the last few paragraphs about the SEO problems, ask and I can give you an example.)

Last but not least, here's an affiliate program that looks like a good fit. Just happened to see a post at another forum. I don't usually recommend Clickback for newbies and have no idea if this is a good product or affiliate program - just seems like it's what your site is about so thought I would pass it on.

Pays 65% Anime Downloads | Manga Downloads | Drama Downloads

There are a bunch of gotchas with Clickbank, so if you are a newbie you need to read about the various issues involved with this program. If you don't know what I'm referring to ask and I can point you to some links.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL THIS: I see you asked in another thread for recommendations for a different affiliate program. NO PROGRAM will make you money if you don't learn the basics. So I would learn a little more before even trying to pick a new niche.

(My bolds, caps and reds are not meant to yell at you, but to emphasize the importance because you seem to be asking lots of questions but are missing some of the most basic elements. So I'm just trying to stress some important things to you.)

Thanks for that whole lot of info. I really needed that.

And I've decided to continue with this blog. I may consider other niches if this one's really a failure or have succeeded with my current niche.

I've never come across this situation before because when I posted that post and tried clicking on the post title, it took me to a separate page on my blog that only has that post. But now it doesn't. And another thing is, this did not happen to my other blog, The Blog Of Shoukei. I don't really understand why.

Email your affiliate manager and ask what conversion rates they are getting.

Good idea, Rob.

But I'm quite concerned with the condition of my blog. I don't know how to fix it and it didn't happen to my other blogs that I set up the same way I did to this one. I don't quite understand what Linda said in her post about the SEO problem my blog was having.

Could you help me?

Here's an example of what I meant. Search engines need to see that your post or article is relevant to the title and the keywords you are using. A blatant example of why relevance is important to search engines is - they want to be sure some spammer does not have a title of "free gas" and then when people get to the page the contest is actually all about XXX rated stuff.

So the engines want to see that your meta title, page title text and keywords in the page are all related. IF they are your page has a better chance of getting a high ranking.

So here's the problem you face now since your indiv posts aren't going to their own page. I'll use my blog for an example cuz I know what I rank for.

Go to the 5 Star Affiliate Marketing Blogs and scroll down. I happen to have a REALLY long home page and tons of different topics are there. Keywords in the titles range from Fathers Day to Friday the 13th to New York tax to cookie stuffing.

So lets say I write a blog post and the KWs I want to rank high for are:
Free Affiliate Landing Page

For me to get high ranking for those KW if they were only on my blog homepage would be impossible because: a) the homepage is watered down with too many KW on a wide range of other topics. b) the meta title of the blog home page is 5 Star Affiliate Blogs (way up at the very top of your browser above the address bar). The meta title does not have the words free or landing page

Now scroll down about 9 screens to my post from Monday June 9th titled:
Free Affiliate PPC Landing Page Template and Tips. Click over to see the full article on it's own page. The meta title at top of browser says "Free Affiliate PPC Landing Page Template and Tips" the page text title says "Free Affiliate PPC Landing Page Template and Tips" and in the body of the post those keywords are there.

Guess where I rank in Google for the term Free Affiliate Landing Page?
#1 out of 206,000 competing pages. Free Affiliate Landing Page - Google Search
If I didn't have the separate blog post on it's own page and those KW were only buried on my homepage, I would probably be #85 and no one would ever find me for that phrase.

So the same thing could be true for the example I used on your blog of "Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2" If it went to it's own page as it should, you would get ranked much higher for that phrase. Especially since there are only 1,130 competing pages. you'd have a VERY good chance of getting some traffic from that page.

Does that help make it more clear?
