An in-between compromise would be...

Set your homepage for around 5 posts. This will help your homepage rank for more than just the a single post title would and give it a little more spiderfood without watering it down too much. Then shorten the home page posts with the "more" tag.

This should let a few pages show up in your category pages, yet keep the homepage a little tighter.

Just a suggestion...

Hi..

What are you doing to get traffic?

Just a preliminary search: chicken coop 301,000 monthly searches... chick coop plans 40,500 searches.. The interest is there. Yes, they are all indicating "chicken coops" not houses. How many keywords are you targeting?

How many competing sites for those searches? How many adwords campaigns? How many articles have you done? What about authority links?

I think if you do your traffic correctly, you'd make more money.

Just my .02. Sheri

I use SEO only.

I'm using chicken house plans as my primary keyword because I have a chance at ranking for it. My secondary keyword is chicken house designs. I am on the first page for the first keyword and second page for the second keyword.

Chicken coop has 848,000 in SEOC. I don't think I have a chance for that keyword.

I used keywords with the words houses and designs because I felt that these people where actually searching for a way to build a chicken coop.

My articles are an ongoing effort. I have 30 back links to the main page.

Lynda, I tried your idea on the compromise. I had not thought about the main page being watered down with to many posts. I will have to find a way to bend Wordpress to my will in future. hehe

Julie,

After reviewing the first page on Google of chicken house plans, I see that your website is #5, which is fine. However, all of the previous four websites are selling the same ebook as you.

You will need to distinguish yourself from them in some way. Perhaps if the ebook is PLR, you could rewrite some of it and give it a new cover.

Are there any affiliate programs with CJ, SHareasale, Clickbank, etc.,that offer chicken house plans, or another ebook? This may help.

SEO is great for traffic, but that is only "one" method. To be sucessful you need a few
streams of traffic.

Hope the above suggestions help and I wish you well. Sheri
