I took a quick jaunt over to your site and my initial impression was to click away when the mechanical man started speaking and there was no way to turn him off. Some people may browse the web with their sound off, but I'm not one of them.
Something else that initially jumped out at me was the font inconsistencies. The font is small and may be difficult for people with vision problems and it doesn't allow for easy resizing (unless, of course, the person is using Firefox or another Mozilla based browser). Also, some blocks of text are bold - why? With design, each element should have a purpose whether decorative or for usability.
Finally, what is it you want the visitor to do at your site? Initially, it's not clear because you've presented too many options (i.e. links to click) and the user may not notice you're actually selling something down at the bottom.
To sum up, consider restructuring your navigation and putting the most import information above the fold. Nix any design elements which don't serve a purpose, and drive your visitors where you want them to go - get a call to action.
Regarding PR, while it may be a Google joke, it's important to remember that many webmasters and services still use it as part of an overall site value indicator. While the toolbar page rank rarely shows the accurate PR (it's constantly changing and some speculate it could actually be up to 6 months behind the true PR), page rank itself does play a part in the Google ranking algorithm.
If you wish to build your PR, then you'll need to gain, steadily and constantly, quality backlinks. There's really no way around it.
