Hi going (er...going where? Sorry, bad joke.),
First thing that jumped out at me, as a consumer, was the pop up with the video. It was annoying. Not that you are annoying, but it distracted me instantly.
As a person who usually browses with various tabs open, any website that starts with noise/sound usually ends up being closed immediately if I can't get the sound to stop directly on the site.
On your site, I saw the video was part of a pop up which had a close button, but I
didn't want to close it. I was actually interested in reading it, but the video was too distracting, so I closed it...however, the sound didn't end. The only way for me to get it to stop was to completely close your website. The good news is that it didn't come back when I visited again.
It's important to consider your visitors' user experience, and not necessarily your own, when you build a site.
I did, however, stay long enough to look over your content and my first question is, what do you want your visitor to do while they're there? I didn't really come across a strong call to action or intuitive navigation. Is it mainly an article website?
The actual content is great (I took some time to scan a couple articles) and I appreciated the tips that were scattered throughout. Might be nice to have all those tips collected in a single place, though, possibly a downloadable ebook -- just a thought.
Summing up, I think it's important that you define what your ultimate goal is for the site and what you want your visitors to do. Having that focus will, probably, allow you to tighten up the design for your target audience.
