This worked great for Alex Tew when he came up with the idea for the first of these sites back in 2005. He said he was raising money to go to college. He did go for a while but later dropped out and hasn't returned. He made more than a million dollars off it and has been living well since then.
However the attempts by the copycats have failed. There have been thousands upon thousands upon thousands who have tried. There seems to be close to no interest in these type of sites now.
The first one was helped because it was a new idea and it received a lot of news coverage around they world. That is what did it for Alex Tew and why he was able to do well with his Million Dollar Homepage.
That gave others the idea to copy him and try it themselves and people are still trying it. The interest just isn't there.
To help illustrate this, Alex Tew himself tried something like this again and even he wasn't able to do well with it.
One of the few success stories that I saw after Alex Tew came up with his idea was a man who started a business of designing sites for people who wanted to have their own pixel sites. He has done very well with no shortage of customers. However the pixel sites themselves are doing very poorly. Most people have seen dozens, if not hundreds of them and aren't very interested.
You might want to consider a site about something you have an interest in. Have lots of useful information on the site then add some affiliate programs to your site that are appropriate.
Or look for some new angle on the pixel idea - your background has bricks, maybe "help me build a new house by buying a brick". I don't know, that may be a stupid idea but something unique may get you the same type of news coverage the original pixel site got.
