Default Will a wordpress blog allow me to do this?

Hi everyone,

I want to have a good website that will look professional and allow me to add pages(landing pages) to the site/blog in the near future. Can I utilize the amazing wordpress platform to do this? Or is wordpress not suited for such pursuits? I am really not sure, the more I look around the more I think maybe what I want to create is in fact not a blog, but a site, however, with my limited programming knowledge wordpress looks like a great option.

In short, I would like to know if people here feel that a wordpress blog can be used as a fully functional website. Any commentary is much appreciated. Thanks.

Sure it can, but you need to have a reasonable handle on how PHP works.

I can't code in PHP, but I can look at it and tell what each bit does cut out what I don't want etc.

Yes many people use Wordpress like a content management system to build a regular site on. Still probably requires a good amount of knowledge but the nice thing about WP too is there are tons of tutorials and they have a decent forum with lots of WP pros.

You can get into the backend of WP to see what it's like and play with it before deciding over at OpenSource CMS. You can probably go in and build a page to see how easy or functional it would be. That's just using the default template. The key for someone like I would think is to get a really rock solid template that you don't have to do much tweaking on.

Thanks for the responses. I guess the answer to my question was actually staring me right in the face. This place is built on blogging and forum platforms and it looks pretty professional and successful to me, so... there you have it , haha. At any rate, the key is just to get going and not ponder too much, so I will start there and I know I'll learn something. Thanks again.
