Develop blog in IE or Firefox to avoid problems?

Hello everyone,

The last time I developed a blog I developed it mostly in Firefox, and for some reason it was totally messed up in IE(the text was covered in a blackish bolding) How do you troubleshoot browser compatibility issues when you develop sites? Any feedback appreciated.

I've done the same thing since I live on FF. You just need to also check it in IE because the majority of surfers still use it unfortunately.

Should I just develop in IE in an attempt to avoid problems? Or, are the problems just as likely with either browser and a fact of site development? Thanks for taking the time to answer.
