Google now warns on "unsafe" websites

This is something that possibly could make a big difference because of the huge number of searches conducted with the use of Google and because of the amount of traffic Google brings to so many sites.

Google now warns users if they are about to visit a page that could be harmful to their computer.

The warning is in the form of a pop up if a user clicks on a link to a page that is known to host spyware or other malicious programs.

Harmful sites have been identified by the Stop Badware coalition. Anyone using Google who clicks on a link to a site which has been identified as harmful will see the warning.

At the present time the warnings just tell users the site has been identified as dangerous. Future plans call for the warnings to give more details.

The warnings make a suggestion for users to try a different site but lets them know they can continue to the page identified as dangerous if they want to.
