1. That's not entirel true. Google does recognize links from at least certain directories, for example. Links from original articles are also acceptable, as another example.

2. Google is fully aware of nonorganic linking and most of it is either okay with them or already handled by their algorithms. For the rest, they resort to bullying tactics.
