We all have songs which, when it plays on the radio or at a bar/club, it takes us back in time to a moment in our life. Sometimes it conjures pleasant memories, sometimes it reminds us of a heartbreak.
The beginning of the school year usually marks the end of summer. Now that classes have started for some this week, others will be going in the next, RealNetworks asks:
What song do you associate with your favourite summer memory?
Summer 1999. Song: Closing Time by Semisonic. Working the best summer job at our local Amusement park. Every time I hear that song it takes me back to that summer.
There are numerous songs that come to mind when I think about Rio Caranval 2006. There are the hot sounds from the “bateria” of the Samba School signifying that the Carnaval procession is about to begin. More than 600 drums coming together to create the beautiful and unique sound of Brazil. And of course, I can not forget two songs from my favorite singers, Beth Carvalho (Vou Festejar) and Alcione (Não deixe o samba morrer).

Hmm...so many! Each summer has a couple of distinctive songs that evoke sweet memories
The earliest one I can think of though is back when I was a little girl and I would spend the early summer evenings playing with chalk on my driveway while my older brother and his friends were shooting hoops...I memorized all the words to Bon Jovi's 'You Give Love a Bad Name' (From the Slippery When Wet Album) that summer

The summer of grade seven, way back in 1991, was largely devoted to listening to Metallica, the Black Album. I still listen to it when I drive. Great memories.
