Default Google Ads - Merchant Leaks?

I am interested in promoting a merchants product but I noticed that going to their home page they have Google ads towards the upper left hand column. Is this considered to be a leak (hope this is the right terminology)?

As a result should these products be promoted by an affiliate?

Thanks Lester

Hi Lester,

Yep it's a leak - you got that right!

Well you can still promote but a certain % of your traffic could
leak to Adsense and you don't get paid for that traffic.
It also should put up a red flag that either the merchant
is clueless about affiliate marketing or knows and doesnt care.

So I'd say if you can find another merchant with the right products and
no leaks, that's better. Sometimes you can contact the merchant and they will change. Or if you really need that particular merchant you could still promote knowing that it's possible you'll lose a little money.

ALSO check to see if this merchant is on auto deposit with SAS.
If they aren't that means they could go inactive and could be another
strong signal the merchant is clueless.

Is there a way to check to see if the merchant is on auto deposit without signing up to Share A Sale? I am in the process of building my website to promote the merchants products before I submit my website to Share A Sale. If I submit it now it will only get rejected. I have no other way to find out. Or is There somethng I can put in place of a website that will enable me to join Share A Sale and pick a merchant later?

Not sure that you can see if they are on auto-deposit or not without logging into Shareasale. In any case, don't be so sure that you'll SAS application will be rejected. If you're concerned, try putting some text up on the site that explains this will be a affiliate site, maybe what type of site, and is currently under development.

Hi Lester,

There are lots of affiliate that don't have sites because they market through PPC or email. The main thing SAS wants to screen out is obvious shady characters. Then it's up to each merchant to do more thorough review of sites they approve. So I'd do what Dave Suggested.

I did what Dave suggested and filled out the application for Share A Sale and was auto accepted.

I looked for the merchant alphabetically and by topic but no sign of them. I'll have to find another merchant or change my topic.

Thanks Lester
