I know there is a thread about Twitter somewhere, but I can't find it. I just joined twitter, both for my personal and site email. I'm going to use it to notify people when I do updates to the site.
Anyone had a good or bad experience with Twitter? I'm thinking it's an awesome way to reach everyone at once you want to reach. I have a Yahoo Group affiliated with my site where I was using the mailing list to do my newsletter updates. I'll also do Twitter now.
I'd love to hear your experiences with Twitter.

I was a late blooming twit and just got active about a month ago. I'm not really using it to full potential and def don't twit every new blog post as that's considered Twit spam, so only do an occasional important or newsworthy one.
Starting to really enjoy reading and do find new useful info from people I follow occasionally. But some of the comments are just to lame. I only follow key industry players and only for biz, so to have to read posts like "I just had a cup of coffee" or trying to talk about the last episode of Lost, are just a waste of space and frustrate me. Still really just getting used to it though.
Where I see it being really helpful is when someone posts they are looking for a certain type of coder or ask if anyone can help them with a problem on their computer or something - cool that it goes out to everyone at once and people can instantly offer help. Haven't used it for anything like that yet, just have seen some people get quick support or answers they would have had a hard time getting otherwise.

Yeah, I definitely won't be spamming the airwaves with it. I just thought it would be nice to let people know about MAJOR updates to the site, not every little blog post. That's what RSS is for. Plus, I'm gonna have a forum up and running very soon, so a lot will go there. But not everyone wants to join a forum or get a newsletter, so I figure some people would rather "Tweet" than that. I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. Me, I like newsletters and forums. I have a friend who hates them, and only IM's everything. I have another who is a Tweeter extraordinaire! She's the one who really talked me into it.
I'm only inviting people that might be interested in, or are members of the site. The first spammy tweet I get from someone is gonna get them blocked.

When it works, it's a great way to network within a specific niche or industry. One man's spam is another man's ham sandwich. A lot of people confuse unsolicited messages with one's they have signed up for and feel the need to be outraged by a Tweet? Ridiculous...
i have used twitter for months now and it could really boost up some traffics to your site / blogs. really, i could be a witness to that and your site / blog could get a minimum of 60 visits per week. i dont know if that worked with others but im glad to have used it.
