If you're trying to get traffic to your site, social bookmarking sites do not directly produce much. But, I still use them for indexing. Most of these sites help you get more backlinks to your site, therefore helping you rank higher in the natural search listings. And, that will give you traffic to your site, as long as you get on the first page.

100% false. I can show you stats of one post bringing in over 100k uniques using social bookmarking sites, you just have to understand how to use them and the other factors that makes them work., like they will not work for all sites, it is basic demographics at work on social sites. There are plenty of posts here to help you learn 2.0 and how to make these sites work for you or anyone.

This is mixed, if you are successful with a submission, you may build links from visitors blogs, but the majority of SBS's use the nofollow tag and this makes them worthless as far as the serps and PR exchange is concerned.
So, they are to be used as linkbaiting, not to get links from the actual bookmarking sites.
There is plenty of information on this forum where you can learn how to do this, if you can not find the answer, ask someone, they will direct you or answer directly if you need help.

Social bookmarking or success with social bookmarking is about building relationships
Take digg for example, you put up a post on your blog and digg it. But how is it going to get any attention if there is only one digg?
But if you build a robust network in whatever bookmarking site you are using, then your psots are likely to be bookmarked by your friends as well and all you need is a few people to get the ball rolling
At the moment, I am focussing on building these relationships on just 3 of the popular bookmarking sites
You can get traffic from social bookmarking site members if your post is something that the members are interested in. So same with article writing, it all boils down to quality and relevance.
Also, If you have your keywords right, your bookmark will likewise be indexed and come up high on the SERP's. This happens a lot with the likes of Digg, Reddit, Proppeler...

And you are 100% correct
What I see very little of in the marketing game is the correct use of your assembled bookmarks on say del.icio.us
That is an asset you can use. If you've done more than just "assemble" your links and actually added value with links to other sites.
Traffic comes once you build a relationship...hence the name "social" bookmark.
Hi,
Nice list of social bookmarking site. I think for use three or four bookmarking sites are sufficient. You should make group and boost your friend community.
Thanks

Yes, that's very true. Bookmarking sites like digg.com are quite useful for getting your site indexed faster in search engines.
I personally like StumbleUpon the best for finding new interesting material. Has anyone ever used their advertising program? I also like Folkd because your links count for SEO purposes.
