As far as I can tell, BidClix has never been talked about in any of the 5 Star forums. I thought I would mention them in my forum.
BidClix is often among those people talk about when they are talking about AdSense clones, but it functions differently than AdSense.
When some people had their accounts terminated by AdSense, BidClix is one of the places they would turn. If people couldn't get accepted by the Google AdSense program, BidClix would be one of the "AdSense clones" they would try to get into. Others might use it to hopefully be an additional source of revenue.
I have been using BidClix since shortly after it was introduced. For me, it just can't compare to AdSense. I can and do make a lot more with AdSense. I was able to determine this after giving BidClix a very long and fair test. I now use them on a very limited basis.
There are some people who use both AdSense and BidClix, with them not being on the same page, but on the same site. That is sometimes done on pages where the AdSense ads displayed just aren't what the publisher wants.
I do like to keep an eye on the small players because they often come up with some very good ideas before the big guys do. Most people don't hear about them. The big guys sometimes adopt these ideas and people really love them.
The reason I decided to mention BidClix is because of a new tool they have just introduced called InteGREAT, which I feel is a good idea and one which I would like to see Google make available to AdSense publishers. It allows publishers, bloggers, and webmasters to nicely integrate the ads into their content. Here is a portion of the BidClix announcement.
Quote:
Now you can have full control over the size, colors, fonts, etc. Match the design to your website to increase the aesthetic appeal (and lets face it, nobody likes having ugly ads on their website). You can totally design the ads so they look "GREAT" on your page.
The design tools that we have created go WAY beyond anything you might find at minor companies like, say, Google.
There is a simple, web based tool for creating and saving your favorite design templates. But power users can also jump into the JavaScript code and define almost every parameter. It's extremely powerful.

That is a very good idea. Maybe Yahoo Publisher Network or AdSense will eventually have something like this. BidClix was joking when they called Google a minor company.
BidClix can be found at
BidClix: Advertising Marketplace in case you want to see if you want to give them a try.
There are all kinds of site and publisher situations. Something that isn't right for one publisher could be right for another publisher. Most people are going to do much better with AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network. But there could be those who would like to test BidClix.
What do you think? Would you like to see Google or Yahoo offer this feature?
Edit: BidClix ceased operations on July 31, 2007.
