Maxthon browser is loaded with features

I am very interested in browsers and I enjoy testing them. I'll be posting about lots of browsers.

The famous browsers get a lot of attention. Alternative browsers don't often get the exposure that some of them deserve. While some of them aren't all that good, others are very good. Many times new browsers come up with some great features that not many people know about until these features are later adopted by the more famous browsers.

Maxthon is a free browser which is based on the Internet Explorer browser engine. In most cases, what works in Internet Explorer will work the same in Maxthon.

Maxthon has features such as tabbed browsing, privacy protection, Internet Explorer extensions support, skinning, mouse gestures, super drag & drop, external utility bar and several others.

Maxthon isn't a new browser. It has been around for a while. I use it at times, and it isn't a bad browser.

Maxthon now has a new feature called Maxthon Access. This feature allows you to access your computer from anywhere.

Maxthon Access service is through the Maxthon browser. There is secure password-protected access.

It is sometimes a little difficult to know why Google does certain things and sometimes it might be for reasons other than what is suspected.

Google has bought a stake in Maxthon. The Maxthon browser is used more in China than in any other country. However it is used around the world.

On the surface it looks as if Google did this in order to help them with the Chinese market since Google will now be the default search engine with the Maxthon browser in China. Google will replace Yahoo in some other countries.

People can only guess as to if there will eventually be more to this Google deal with Maxthon.

I love Maxthon. I've been using it for about two years.

The reasons I like/use it are:

1) clean interface
2) Nice clean, equally sized tabs
3) Move round through the tabs using F3
4) Instant page zoom by using Ctrl + and Ctrl -
5) Instant image zoom byusing Ctrl + and Ctrl -
6) Lock a tab - stops you accidentally closing an important one
7) If your PC crashes, when you reboot Maxthon offers you every tab you had open when you load it up
8) Groups - grouping loads of tabs so you open a group of them in one click
9) Re-open last closed tab - useful for those "oops" moments

My only niggle is since I installed IE7 I've lost the ability to open PDFs in Maxthon - and I never get round to checking out options to find out why
