NameMedia has purchased Afternic

Not long ago domain name aftermarket Afternic stopped brokering gambling, adult, violence and other "vice" domains.

The reason given by Afternic was that they did this to make Afternic and the domain industry more inviting to small businesses as well as others that might be offended by some of the domains that were listed on its exchange.

Many now believe there might have been a little more to this because Afternic has now been purchased by NameMedia. There is some thought that is one of the reason they were eliminating the adult and gambling domains from their system.

NameMedia also owns BuyDomains and ActiveAudience.

The Afternic house parking had been DomainSponsor. It will be replaced by ActiveAudience.

NameMedia will now be a lot more competitive with Sedo.
