Hope it's okay to post a live link since I only joined yesterday but there is a great new keyword tool called GTrends on WordTracker...

Free GTrends Tool on WordTracker

It works in much the same way as the regular free WordTracker keywords tool but has a link on the right of each suggested keyword (looks like a little graph).

The link gives you the approximate number of Google searches a day by comparing your keyword to a keyword where the daily searches in Google are known.

It also gives you an indication of competition in Google for that particular keyword.

Entity Association Graph - This tool provides a graphic view of the associations between entities by mining the co-occurrences of entities in search queries or search sessions. Such associations will be useful when creating query suggestions or analyzing user search patterns.

Keyword Group Detection - Based on keywords that a user enters, keywords this tool helps to find the groups of words from the pool of online queries that are related or similar to the keywords entered by the user. This keyword research tool also detects common misspellings of keywords entered, which can help merchants to include commonly misspelled keywords when bidding for lists of keywords.

Keyword Mutation Detection - This tool displays common misspellings or alternative spellings of keywords that a user enters that are frequently found in search query logs. The process of finding mutations is based on the technology found in keyword group detection.

Keyword Forecast - This tool forecasts the impression count and predicts demographic distributions of keywords. Before launching your SEO or SEM campaign, get forecasts of search volume and demographic predictions for your selected keywords.

Problogger had a great article awhile back about Using AdWords Keyword Tool + Google Trends to pick the best keywords for blog titles.

But if you read between the lines it's a cool tip for all kinds of KW research.

If you go about 3/4 down there is a hidden gem for KW research I didn't know about.

"A variation on this is to use another helpful feature in the AdWords Keyword Tool - one that lets you submit text and get suggested keywords from it.

Here’s how to do it. Say you’ve already written a blog post and you’re wanting to choose a title for it. Simply choose the ‘Website content’ option and then the ‘enter your own text in the box below’ option. Then copy and paste the text from your post into the field provided and hit ‘Get keyword ideas’.

The tool will then scan the text suggest keywords that match it - highlighting those which have the most searches. You then can use these keywords as the basis for your post title."

Tip for affiliates - using this idea you could go to lets say an Amazon top seller list and pull some of the copy, plug it in via the method above and maybe find some diamonds that had high volume, low competition. I did it just for a lark and found an electronics product with high search volume that had 0 Adwords ads.
