Thanks,
I'm more of a frequent visitor to ABW/WMW but I figured I might start hanging out here too

Every time I see LW mentioned somewhere, I always want to give them a good shoutout - I guess that's a good way to build a business..

providers I recommend:
LiquidWeb (For Dedi/VPS)
Rackspace (Dedi/VPS)
ICDSoft (Shared hosting)
Pair (Shared/Dedi)

I've heard mixed things about the Planet and LayerTech, so if others have had experiences there, feel free to chime in.

We sure would like to have you hang out with us when you get a chance.
If you dig through some of the threads in general and the niche forum
I think you'll find lots of good info and some discussions you may want to get involved in.

I have a few domains that are on my to-do list to build out sites for.
They've been on my to-do list for 2 years and not sure when I will ever get the time.
But I think for those I may go with Pair shared hosting since they will be small sites.

Glad to be here Linda, I think I'm one of your RA downline (PM me for details).

Anyway, I listened to a shoemoney show today, and the basic theme (which I've seen echoed elsewhere a lot and is very true - is just do it.. Part of running a business is seeing where to direct your limited resources..

Sorry all, we've drifted off topic and should start a new thread to talk about general stuff,
but just to point it out, since it came up.

"I think I'm one of your RA downline."

Good to know you are working with Revenue Allies. But when you use the word downline, just want to be sure you know. I'm not an affiliate promoting any of the programs I represent to get 2nd tier affiliates under me. I don't ever get commissions for new affiliate or any affiliate sales. I'm a consultant and do PR and advertising for all my 5 Star programs. I do use tracking links so I know how much traffic I send my clients but don't make any commission.

Just wanted to point that out because I know lots of the regular affiliate directories join the programs they list so they can get 2nd tier commish, but that's not my model.

OK now we return to our regularly scheduled discussion.

I've been with HostMonster for a long time. It's service is good and even one can host unlimited domains with just one account.

Moreover it offers:
300 Gigabytes of Hosting Space
3,000 Gigs of Transfer/month

It costs $5.95/month. I recommend it honestly.

Hi Oziman - probably don't know who I am but I recognize your name from over at the other place.

ooh can't find her name now but somebody posted earlier regarding GoDaddy. I'm there too and hmm like and don't like. It is reliable as far as not much time at all is there offline time or whatever it's referred to. Definitely do not like having to pay to call them for tech support, tho. I can't get rss stuff to work on my site ....they keep telling me my plan automatically has it but it's not working and I don't wanna have to call them again. lol So, probably when my time's up will move to maybe 1&1 or was thinking maybe of HostICan. Not decided yet.

SCRATCH LIQUID WEB!!!

I really believed they were a good choice but had a REALLY bad experience.
4 days of problems - crashed drive, then another hardware problem, then they couldnt get the forum to run and all the while, slow support JUST TRYING TO GET MY SERVER SET UP.
I had to wait over 12 hours for one support ticket to be answered.
One problem after another and they never could get my site up and working right.

All I did for almost a whole week was deal with tech support problems.
I don't have time to do that and I NEED to trust my host to be sure my site is
up and running right, my business relies on it! So I cancelled and am getting a refund.

So I have some STRONG suggestions.

If your income and business relies on your site being up...
If you want to be able to sleep at night...
Do through research at Web Hosting Talk

That forum is filled with REAL host reviews that contain both good and bad for almost any host you can think of. And if someone complains they have to prove to mods that are hosted with that host to insure its not just another hosting company trying to tear down a competitor.

It IS true that every host out there has unhappy customers.
Even Lexus customers sometimes get a lemon.

Some hosts are good at shared and not at dedicated.
Some excel at VPS but don't do other hosting well.
AND some hosts that have had good rep for a long time
go down hill and there support is no longer any good.

That appears to be the case with LiquidWeb. I read LOTS of great reviews.
But after I started having lots of problems with set up and support I started digging deeper and found they are one of many hosts that were really good for awhile, then went downhill.

So instead of just searching for "xyz host review" at WHT you need to also start searching for "xyz host problems" "xyz host support" "xyz host downtime" then search Google for "xyz host sucks"

If you do deep research at WHT you will see the patterns.

BE SURE TO READ THE COMMENTS IN THE BLOG BELOW.

Several of us that are fairly big bloggers have been having hosting problems.
There are some important host warnings, things to look out for and check with your host about especially if you use WordPress and some good recommendations about solid hosts.

The Worst Mistake A Webhost Can Make… | Andy Beard - Niche Marketing

If your site is earning good money and you want to sleep at night -
you REALLY need to research before selecting a host or moving to a new one.
Some of the recommendations in that thread about the ways to research are priceless.

MY HOSTING??? I decided to stay with my current host for now and HOPE to God this newest "double everything" server he put me on is rock solid and does not have problems. I can't handle any more downtime.

BUT I also can't handle trying to move again right now. A week of problems and tech support hassles is something I just don't have time for. My biz suffered and I thought I was going to have a breakdown. However I am going to continue to do research to try to find the PERFECT host so if something happens and I do need to move, it will hopefully go better than the fiasco I just went through.

Hi,
HostMonster is a brand that BlueHost owns.

Similar to a lot of budget shared hosting out there, they tend to oversell their services.

Over at webhostingtalk, I've heard good things about a small orange (asmallorange.com).
