I have a dedicated server with ThePlanet and i'm quite happy with it. There was a problem once and they took care of it quickly but in general i like to set up my own stuff and don't be one of those guys that constantly bugs the support team with silly questions when i can instantly find them on google.

I've been with many hosts but at the moment i'm happy with ThePlanet.

So i guess they're my fav.

After trying four VPS providers, I have now 2 VPS, one with Liquidweb (Cpanel) and another with myvpshost (Xen/Directadmin).

Each has its own advantages - Liquidweb provides fast response, and myvpshost has very good performance, since it is XEN-based and cannot be oversold.

If I leave them, it will be for a move to a low-cost dedicated.

For web-hosting, I have found hostpc (directadmin) very cost-effective.

I have several sites hosted by Dreamhost, MidPhase and Bluehost. I like them pretty well.

I also have one with HostMonster and I wasn't happy with their customer service right after I joined. I had a question about why the stats weren't showing up after a week and when I asked in the help forum, you'd thought I had said something bad about their momma's!

I'm LIVID over a situation that happened with Midphase yesterday and am moving as soon as I can.

They suspended one of my sites that isnt that big or busy WITHOUT WARNING aad WITHOUT NOTICE. This is the 2nd time they've done this to me. It's a small site I seldom go to e, if Larry had not told me it was donw I would not have known. It was down for 5 hours and I spent the whole day trying to deal the tech support trying to get things resolved.

Support lied to me 4 times about why it was suspended. One time they said I didn't pay - wrong! One time they even tried to tell me they didn't suspend it - I did it, when I had not touched the reseller account for weeks.

Finally I got a supervisor to tell me what the real reason is. "The site is too busy! We can no longer host your site Midphase unless you upgrade to a VPS." The site got 27,000 visitors in Sept. Thats NOTHING! If a reseller account can't handle a site that tiny, then what the heck??? They try to blackmail you to upgrade to a VPS by taking your site down - again with NO warning and no notice.

Sorry for the rant - this thread is supposed to be FAV host.

Default Web Hosts

Hello all,

My recommendation is siteground. I think with web hosting its a case of ones service compared to others.

I used to be with 123 reg, no problems until pipex took over and serious issues started to arise. I transfered all my domains and hosting from these and updated them into my siteground account.

The key benefits i believe siteground offer are:

They offer 24hour response time to your issue. This used to be 15 minutes and every question, qeuery you had would be resolved within 15 minutes. They have now changed this to 24hrs but in my experience it is still resolved within the 15mins.

Bandwidth allocation, space, email service are all great if you take out the larger option.

For new affiliates the cheaper option is ideal.

If you have any server, DNS, etc problems and you do not belive you know enough to fix, they will enter your account for you and resolve the issue.

More importantly the sites i have with them have never been down once in 5 years! I think this is a remarkable feat in itself. Yes they are a hosting company and yes this is something that should not happen anyway but we all know it does.

The affiliate company i also used to work for recommended siteground to all new affiliates so again, another valid reason!

I have been hearing all types of very good and very positive stories about a web hosting company with a rather unusual name. I've been meaning to mention them for a good while now because of how so many people I've seen and heard mention how happy they are with them.

There name is A Small Orange. That surely is a name that is a little different. But their customers really praise them.

Of course when a company has a lot of customers it is going to be impossible for every single person to be absolutely pleased, and that is true with A Small Orange as well.

One thing about them that can be useful is that they have their own forum where people can ask questions as well as tell why they like them or why they dislike them. Everything is right there in the open for people to see.

Here is a link to A Small Orange in case you would like to check into them to see if possibly they are right for you A Small Orange - Web Hosting, Software and more!

HTTPme is great and very personable. Their entire business centers around their forum so sharing of information is a priority. They offer linus reseller accounts, VPSs and dedicated servers. They also started offering Windows servers recently.

The owner is very experienced and you can call him or request a call whenever you want directly with him. The tech are also very good.

Thumbs down WiredHub - don't do it

Ive been with WiredHub for about 2 years first year great a bit of downtime once every couple of weeks but was quickly back up when i emailed there tech support .This year more down time but I can live with it as they are quite cheap and other then the little bits and bobs on the downtime, OK.

A few days ago my account was suspended for no reason. I checked that the payment for the hosting had been paid (it had ) contacted tech support who said they would forward my email to the management department - then nothing, no email , no phone calls I submitted more support tickets to find out the reason for the suspension, again tech support said they would forward my request.

None of my site's have anything "Dodgy" or illegal on them, no porn or anything that should get me into any trouble with my host. I use less then 1% of my bandwidth each month. The thing that has really annoyed me is the lack of contact, nothing just a blanket suspension. I have telephoned numerous times trying all departments getting just a recorded message saying "no one is available to take your call" (even the sales dept) If there was a problem, if they contacted me I would be able to resolve the issue

Now in the proccess of moving all my sites to hostgator
